Kickstart UK

Helping you employ young people via the Kickstart scheme

The Kickstart Scheme closed to new employers on 17 December 2021.

Why Kickstart UK?

A national Kickstart service for business

Kickstart UK helps businesses to access Kickstart funding with minimum fuss. We take care of the red tape by applying for funding on your behalf, passing on approx. £5,000 worth of wage reimbursements and £1,000 of setup funding, supporting you with recruitment and by delivering £500 worth of tailored employability support to each young person you employ. Submit your interest to learn more.

Full wages paid

The Government pays the wages of the young person at National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week. This is over £5,000 worth of funding for a 21-24 year old.

£1,000 grant

Kickstart UK passes on an additional £1,000 to help cover your supervision and setup costs. We give you this money early in the programme to help with your cashflow.

Support partner

We act as your Kickstart partner throughout the scheme. We handle all the job applications and deliver the mandatory employability support on your behalf.

Kickstart UK

The Kickstart scheme is a £2 billion fund to help employers create hundreds of thousands of high quality 6-month work placements for young people.

The placement must be an ‘additional’ job. This means you can’t be recruiting for it already or replacing furloughed or redundant staff. Don’t get caught out by this. If you’re unsure we can talk you through what’s eligible.

Supporting you along the way

Kickstart UK’s mission

We believe that all businesses should be able to access Kickstart funding to support young people gain meaningful work.

You can do this through Kickstart UK – a Kickstart Gateway specfically designed for the needs of business.

We understand you need a Kickstart gateway that will:

  • Confirm your Kickstart opportunity fits the eligibility criteria
  • Deal with Jobcentre Plus on your behalf
  • Pass on the wage subsidy and up to £1,000 grant funding
  • Minimise red tape and have a team of professionals on hand that you can call at any time
  • Provide £500 work of exceptional employability support to the young person to help them settle in your organisation and progress in life.
